Indoor track season begins for MP girls

CEDAR FALLS - The indoor track and field season is officially underway. The Mt. Pleasant girls had their first meet of the season on Monday, competing at the Dickinson Relays in Cedar Falls.
The Panthers were led by two top-six finishes, which gave them eight points on the day against a stacked field at the University of Northern Iowa.
Lexie Magnani had the best day of the group, finishing fourth in the shot put. Magnani threw a 38-9.
The second-best result of the day went to Maggie Cristoforo in the 400-meter dash. Cristoforo ran that race in 61.55 seconds to take sixth.
Abby Ryon took 12th in the 1500, running the race in 5:06.97. The 4X400 team of Cristiforo, Ryon, Kendall Dascher and Kenna Lamm were 16th, in 4:30.59.
The Panther 4X200 team of Kenna and Karsyn Lamm, Lyndi Vantiger and Avery Sutter was 23rd, in 1:56.13. The 4X800 team of Maggie Jennings, Abby Blint, Claire Holtkamp and Dascher placed 35th in 11:26.
The final two top-50 performance of the day went to Jennings in the 800 and Sutter in the 200-meter dash. Jennings ran a 2:45.31 to pick up a 45th place-finish in the 800, and Sutter ran the dash in 29.32 seconds for 49th.
The Panther boys team will be at the UNI-Dome today (Tuesday) for their first indoor meet. That contest will begin at 2 p.m.
