Iowa Wesleyan basketball teams go 4-0 in CAC Classic
Tigers start conference schedule strong, continue winning ways into 2023

ESPANOLA, N.M. — Iowa Wesleyan dominated the Continental Athletic Conference Classic just as Tiger fans had hoped. What has been a wildly successful season for IW winter athletic continued with a 4-0 mark over weekend.
The Tiger women’s team rolled Crowley’s Ridge 68-37 before taking out Northern New Mexico College 61-53 on their home floor. The men had no problem wiping out Crowley’s Ridge 76-48, and Northern New Mexico 82-51.
On Friday against Crowley’s Ridge, the Tiger women won every quarter in a 31-point blowout win. Isabell West scored 18 points to lead the Tigers to victory.
Megan Teal had a big game off the bench for Iowa Wesleyan, collecting 16 points. Kyla Moore scored 13. Faith Watkins scored just two points, but pulled down 11 rebounds.
The Tigers had to put together a huge rally, down 48-38 with just nine minutes to go against Northern New Mexico. Iowa Wesleyan buckled down and went on a huge run to steal the game and remain unbeaten lifetime in CAC play.
Moore scored 19 points and finished the night with seven steals. West scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Each of them had eight points in the fourth quarter.
The Tiger men had no problem in their 28-poin win over Crowley’s Ridge on Friday. Nine different Iowa Wesleyan players scored in the victory.
Henry Shannon led the way with 13 points. Joey Brown IV had 12, and Francis Okwuosah had 12.
Allante Pickens erupted for 19 points in the Tigers’ 31-point win over Northern New Mexico. Victor Munoz scored 14, and both Brown and Shannon collected 10.
The Tiger women are now 11-5 overall. The men are 16-1, having won 16-straight games. Both teams are 2-0 in conference play, and both will play at Bible Baptist College next Friday night.
