FOREST CITY — A two-game road trip turned into two blowout wins for the Iowa Wesleyan men’s basketball team over the weekend. The Tigers blasted Waldorf University 77-47 on Friday and then crunched Valley City State 81-58 on Saturday. Both games were a part of the Coblestone Classic in Forest City.
The Tiger men led 32-19 at halftime against Waldorf and never looked back. Allante Pickens scored 18 points as the Tigers started the weekend off on a high.
Hakeen Odunsi added 16 points off the bench against Waldorf. Henry Shannon scored 14 points. Victor Munoz and Francis Okwuosah each scored six.
It was the same story on a different day when the Tigers played Valley City State on Saturday. Iowa Wesleyan once again had a double-digit lead at halftime, leading 41-26, and once again cruised to victory.
Shannon put up 23 points in Saturday’s win. Pickens had 16. Oksuosah had 14, and Odunsi scored 10 to give the Tigers four double-digit scorers.
Joey Brown finished the day with eight points, eight rebounds and six assists. Carver Locke tallied eight points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting display.
Iowa Wesleyan is now 8-1 and the Tigers are riding an seven-game winning streak. They will host William Penn University on Tuesday night.
