OSKALOOSA — The Iowa Wesleyan men’s basketball team couldn’t pull the upset of No. 2 William Penn in an NAIA matchup on Monday night. The Statesmen were all over the Tigers in a 111-39 Iowa Wesleyan loss.
The loss comes just two months after the Tigers hung with the Statesmen in late November, a game that William Penn would win 104-92.
Iowa Wesleyan trailed 59-39 after the first half and could never challenge the Statemen lead in the second.
Alex Dentlinger led the team with 13 points and three steals. Kolby Williams had 11 points and nine rebounds, and Dylan Hurley scored 10 points to give the Tigers three double-digit scorers.
Carver Locke finished the night with nine points. Francis Okwusah had seven. Jared Arellano finished with five. Victor Munoz had four. Marvin Bateman and Jett Tjaden scored three each, and Jalen Washington and Grant Swanson had two apiece.
The Tigers are now 7-13 on the year. They will host two games during the CAC Classic on Saturday, one against Wilberforce University on Friday night, and one against Haskell Indian Nations University on Saturday.
