Iowa Wesleyan men’s basketball drops 2 on the road
Tigers swept by William Woods, Columbia in weekend trip

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Iowa Wesleyan men’s basketball team went south over the weekend for a pair of games in Missouri. The Tigers fell 67-62 at William Woods University and 84-73 at Columbia College.
The Tigers led 36-33 at the half against William Woods, thanks in part to 12 early points from Alex Dentlinger. The Tigers held as much as a 10 point lead in the second half, but they wouldn’t hold it.
William Woods took their first lead of the second half on a 3-pointer by Makenzie Fessler, which made it 59-58 in favor of the Owls, with 4:13 remaining.
Iowa Wesleyan cut the Owls’ lead back to one point, but the Tigers could never tie it back up.
Kaleb Cresswell led the Tigers with 18 points in the loss at William Woods. Dentlinger finished with 12 points and six rebounds. Joey Brown had nine points. Victor Munoz finished with seen points and six rebounds.
At Columbia, the Tigers trailed 37-31 at the half. Iowa Wesleyan cut that lead to four, at 39-35 on a Francis Okwuosah layup in the first two minutes of the second half, but they never got closer.
Dentlinger had a huge game in the loss against Columbia, nailing seven 3-pointers and scoring 25 points. Munoz scored 16 points nad pulled down five rebounds. Brown scored 11 points, and Cresswell finished with five points and six assists.
Iowa Wesleyan is now 1-4 on the season, having dropped four straight games after winning the first. The Tigers will host Clarke University on Wednesday.
