Iowa Wesleyan releases wrestling schedules

MT. PLEASANT — The mats are about to be heating up at Iowa Wesleyan University, as the men and women’s wrestling teams are closing in on the first meets of the season.

The university released the 2022 Tiger wrestling schedules this week, letting fans know what the year will be like on both the men’s and women’s sides.

The official start of the season is Nov. 5, although the Tigers will be hosting wrestle offs this Friday. When the regular schedule begins, both the men and women will be on the road.

The women will take four road trips in November, beginning with the Simpson tournament on Nov. 5, and ending with the Missouri Valley Open from No. 18-19.

The Tiger women will open up the home schedule on Dec. 7, when they host Grand View University in a dual. That will be the only Iowa Wesleyan home event until the new year.

Shortly after the national duals in early January, the Tiger women will be back in action with a few duals, one being a home dual against Iowa Central Community College, which takes place on Jan. 18.

The final home event of the year will be a dual with Baker College on Feb. 7.

The Tiger men won’t wrestle at home for the entirety of November and December. Iowa Wesleyan will take four trips in November, all in Iowa, beginning with the Simpson tournament on Nov. 5, and ending back in Indianola for a dual against the Storm on the 16th.

The Tigers have just one meet scheduled in December, a Dec. 3 date at the Buena Vista Open. They will begin the home schedule on Jan. 19 against Cornell.

The Iowa Wesleyan men also will be in a dual with Baker on Feb. 7 at home, the only other home event on the schedule.
