LAWRENCE, Ks. — The Iowa Wesleyan cross-country teams competed in their first ever Continental Athletic Conference meet on Saturday. The Tiger men’s team finished fourth, and the women took fifth.
The Tiger men were led by freshman Logan Lucas, who finished the men’s 8-kilometer race in 27:57, good enough for sixth place and an All-Conference second team honor, the first Iowa Wesleyan men’s runner to reach that pedestal.
Kenny Tucker took 16th for the Tiger men. Tony Johnson finished 18th, and Jabez Riers finished 20th to give them four in the Top-20.
Andrew Huhuyana finished just outside the Top-20, taking 21st. Former Mt. Pleasant prep Ryan Hutchinson was right behind him, in 22nd, and Marlon Brown finished 24th.
The Tiger women had the two best individual performances for Iowa Wesleyan. Freshman Faith Younce finished the 5-kilometer race in 20 minutes and 42 seconds for seventh place, and junior Allison Morris ran a personal best 21:33 to finish 12th.
Younce’s finish pushed her into the second team on the CAC’s All-Conference list. She’s the first Tiger women’s cross-country runner to make a CAC All-Conference team.
Iowa Wesleyan’s women’s squad had two more runners in the top 30. Lilly Garnsey and Lidia Pamos ran 20th and 28th respectively. Angel Blagsvedt finished in 33rd, and Teya Hawkins took 35th.
Iowa Wesleyan is now finished with the 2021 cross-country season. The indoor track season begins on Dec. 10.
