Iowa Wesleyan soccer teams fall over weekend

Both Iowa Wesleyan soccer teams were in action this weekend and both picked up losses in non-conference play. The women were beaten 8-1 at Alverno College on Friday and the men fell 9-0 on Saturday at Loras.
The Tiger women trailed 5-1 at halftime of their game. After giving up the first five goals, Ivet Rodriguez scored for the Tigers to cut the lead to four. Alverno tacked on three more goals in the third period.
Karmen Chuong led the Tigers with five total shots, four of which were on goal. Rodruigez had two shots, both on goal.
Cheleena Squib faced 21 shots in 90 minutes. She saved 13 of them.
In the men's game, Loras scored six goals in the first half and three in the second to run away with a nine-goal win.
The Tigers had just two shots all night. Carlos Mateo Moreno and Creighten Chambers each put a shot on goal.
Elijah Perez gave up eight goals in the loss. He made 11 saves on the night. Oscar Hernandez gave up one goal and made three saves.
The Tiger women are now 0-2-1, and will take on Faith Baptist Bible College today (Tuesday) at 4 p.m., at East Lake Park.
The IW men are now 1-6-1. They'll next play on Monday, April 30, at William Penn University.
