DUBUQUE — The Iowa Wesleyan fall season is underway, but the Tigers are still looking for a win. Both the men’s and women’s soccer teams were shut out in nonconference action this week.
On Tuesday in Oskaloosa, the men’s team was defeated 2-0 at William Penn University, which dropped them to 0-2 to start the season. On Wednesday, the women’s team opened the season with a 3-0 loss at Clarke University.
The Tiger men had just two shots in the loss on Tuesday. The women’s team had three shots on Wednesday, two of which were on goal. Jaqueline Campos had both shots on goal for the Tigers.
The Tiger soccer teams are the only squads that have began play, but more will follow on Saturday. The Iowa Wesleyan volleyball team will scrimmage against Monmouth College, and the football team will travel to St. Ambrose.
Iowa Wesleyan fall golf and cross-country will not begin until September. The cross-country teams saw some good news this week as both teams are ranked in the Top 4 in the Continental Athletic Conference’s preseason polls. The men were ranked third out of seven teams, and the women were slated fourth out of eight.
