Tigers pick up two wins at Dutch Athletics Classic in Pella

PELLA — A pair of Iowa Wesleyan distance runners tallied wins at the Dutch Athletics Classic on Saturday, as the Tigers began the 2022 Indoor season.
Freshmen Faith Younce and Logan Lucas both scooped up season-opening wins in the 5,000-meter run.
Younce crossed the tape in 21 minutes, 41.89 seconds, which was the second-best time in Iowa Wesleyan women’s track history. Lucas finished in 17:15.74, the fourth-best time on the men’s side.
Jaheem Hampton had the fourth-best triple jump in Iowa Wesleyan history. The junior leaper took second place with a jump of 12.53 meters.
Bri Hunter had the third-best shot put throw in Iowa Wesleyan women’s history. Her hurl of 12.01 meters put her in fourth place in that event. Maxwell Paskowitz threw 11.86 meters for seventh on the men’s side.
Another freshman, Grace Willms, put together a Top-5 finish for the Tigers. She qualified for the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 8.69 seconds, and ran the final in 8.77 seconds for fifth place. Her qualifying time was third best in Iowa Wesleyan history.
Freshman Jabez Rivers and sophomore Tyree Walker both qualified for the finals in the men’s 60-meter hurdles. Rivers now holds the third-best time in school history with a finishing mark of 9.13 seconds, good enough for sixth in the race. Walker was eighth, with a time of 10.56 seconds.
