Iowa Wesleyan volleyball downed by HLGU
Tigers lose nail-biter 1st set, fade in final 2

MT. PLEASANT — The Iowa Wesleyan volleyball team welcomed in Hannibal-LaGrange University for a non-conference match on Tuesday night. It was the Trojans who had the upper-hand all night, defeating the Tigers in straight sets.
Iowa Wesleyan kept the first game of the night close, as HLGU grinded out a 25-23 victory. Hot starts in the next two sets pushed the Trojans past the Tigers 25-17 and 25-18.
Madison Saia collected seven kills to lead the Tigers in defeat. Malie DeMate finished with six. Emma Lincoln, Bethany Williams and Shea Scott all racked up three.
Kyra Linkin had a nice night, leading the team with 22 digs and dishing out nine assists. Mackenzie Springsteen led the Tigers with 10 assists, and scooped up eight digs herself.
Alexis Hafestine reached double-digits in digs, tallying 11. DeMate ended the game with 10.
The Tigers had four service aces on the night. Springsteen finished with two. DeMate and Aliyah Christensen each had one.
The Tigers four games over the next five games, all at home. Iowa Wesleyan hosts Graceland University on Thursday night before taking on St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and Waldorf University for Saturday’s tri-match, and Harris-Stowe State University on Monday.
