FULTON, Mo. - The Iowa Wesleyan women’s basketball team was unable to match what the men’s squad did one night prior. The Tigers were eliminated from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament, falling 85-69 at Westminster.
The Tigers stuck in the game through the first half, but the Blue Jays held a slight lead throughout. Westminster held a 22-19 advantage after one quarter and led 38-31 at halftime.
The wheels began to fall off in the third quarter. Westminster pushed their advantage to double digits and never looked back.
The Wesminster lead was 68-49 after three quarters. Iowa Wesleyan did win the final period, 20-17, but the damage had been done.
Morgan McCrea led the Tigers with 20 points in the loss. Hannah Sykora scored 13. Sydney Farrar and Asantee Tillman put up 10 each.
Anija Simmons flirted with a double-double before finishing at eight points and 12 rebounds. Chris Heimann scored five points and Taylor Wiatrak had three.
Iowa Wesleyan ended its season at 2-13 overall, 2-8 in conference play.
