Iowa Wesleyan women’s basketball stays hot
Tigers roll to victories at Hannibal-Lagrange, Williams Baptist

CANTON, Mo. — Coach Steve Williamson’s return to Iowa Wesleyan women’s basketball continues to come with a red-hot run to start the season. The Tigers won two more games this weekend to move to 3-0 on the year.
Iowa Wesleyan traveled to Guangzhou to down two more teams in early season play. The Tigers hammered Hannibal-LaGrange University 69-29 on Friday and made it two wins in two days with a 91-76 win over Williams Baptist University on Saturday.
The Tigers led from start to finish against HLGU. Iowa Wesleyan held a 20-8 advantage after one quarter, led 35-15 at half and had a 50-21 lead after three.
Iowa Wesleyan had four double-digit scorers against HLUG. Brielle Baker scored 14 points. Cassi Craft scored 12 points and yanked down nine rebounds, and Kyla Moore and Maci Kutcha had 11 points each.
Breanna Wendland scored nine points in the win over HLGU. Maddie Williamson had seven, and Brittany West scored five.
The Tigers lit up the scoreboard against Williams Baptist, especially early on. Iowa Wesleyan led 30-14 after one quarter and 49-23 at halftime.
Williams Baptist made up 11 points over the final two quarters, but it was too little too late.
All five Tiger starters hit double digits against Williams Baptist. Wendland led the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Kuchta finished with 17 points and seven assists on Saturday. West scored 17. Baker had 16, and Moore scored 15.
Craft finished Saturday’ win with four points and eight rebounds. Williamson scored two points.
The Tigers will look to move to 4-0 with a home game against Monmouth College on Wednesday.
