Tiger men and women see struggle and success through busy week

MT. PLEASANT — Both the Iowa Wesleyan men and women have had a busy week.
The Tigers had some positive moments throughout the week and some struggles as well.
On Tuesday, both the men and women were in action in Fayette, Missouri against Central Methodist University.
It was a tough go for both teams as the Tiger men fell 49-0 and the women were bested 21-19.
On the boys’ side, in the 125-pound weight class, Colton King (CMU) defeated #23 Lane Scorpil by fall in 2:14 to give the Eagles an early 6-0 lead.
In the 133-pound match, #12 Jason Shaw (CMU) defeated Brendan Ferenchik by fall in 2:19 to extend the Eagle lead to 12-0.
At 141-pound weight class, Mitch Huber (CMU) defeated Taten Bahm by fall in 2:11 to pad the Eagle lead to 18-0.
Xavien Johnson (CMU) defeated Drew Evans by decision 10-3 in the 149 match to extend the Eagle lead to 21-0.
In the 157-pound weight class, Lukas Eagle (CMU) defeated Brent Ward by decision in SV1 7-5, to extend the Eagle lead to 24-0.
At 165, Donald Griffin (CMU) defeated Jesus Diaz by major decision 13-4 to extend the Eagle lead to 28-0.
At 174, Jake Henson (CMU) defeated Dominique Morris by decision 9-2 to extend the Eagle lead to 31-0.
In the 184-pound weight class, Sincere Hall-Osbourne (CMU) defeated Kaden Kaiser by fall in 3:36 to extend the Eagle lead to 37-0.
At 197, Elijah Hynes (CMU) defeated Elias Cordero by fall in 1:17 to extend the Eagle lead to 43-0.
In the 285-pound match, #20 Brenden Shelton (CMU) defeated Isaac Boucher by fall in 0:53 to win the dual 49-0 over the Tigers.
The Tigers will look to bounce back on Saturday, January 14. participating in the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational hosted by Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Matches are set to start at 9 a.m.
On the girls side, the 101 wight class was open for both teams.
At 109, #15 Victoria Nunez (CMU) defeated Destiny Carranza by fall in 1:15 to move the team score to 5-0.
In the 116-pound weight class, #14 Faith Cole defeated McKenna Deckelman (CMU) by fall in 1:18 to tie the score at 5-5.
In the 123-pound weight class, Zoi Smith defeated Giovanna Loza (CMU) by decision 11-4 to move the team score to 8-6 in favor of the Tigers.
In the 130-pound final, #6 JoAnna Vanderwood defeated #18 Corrine McClure (CMU) by tech fall 12-1 to move the team score to 12-7.
At 136, #1 Adaugo Nwachukwu defeated #8 Skye Realin (CMU) by tech fall 12-2 to move the team score to 16-8.
Isabelle Hawley defeated Lillian Gough (CMU) by decision 7-0 in the 143 match to move the team score to 19-8.
In the 155-pound match, #1 Caitlyn Davis (CMU) defeated Emma Cole by tech fall 10-0 to move the team score to 19-12
At 170, Shianne Whited (CMU) defeated Mathilde Gaumet by fall in 1:41 to move the team score to 19-17
In the 191-pound match, Jaycee Foeller (CMU) defeated Sydney Manos by tech fall 10-0 in 5:33 to clinch the win over the Tigers 21-19.
The #11 Tigers will look to turn it around on Sunday, January 15 as they travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota to take on the #5 ranked Augsburg University Auggies at 4 p.m.
