IPSWA announces all-state teams

Two area girls basketball players were selected to all-state teams by the Iowa Print Writers Association after outstanding seasons.

The all-state teams were released Tuesday for all five classes after the 2025-26 girls basketball season wrapped up. Highland’s Kamryn Fink and Mid-Prairie’s Morgyn Bender made the cut in Class 1A and 3A, respectively.

Fink earned a IPSWA 1A all-state second-team recognition for the second straight season. The sophomore ranked third in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North in scoring at 16.6 points per game.

Fink also averaged 12.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 5.9 steals. Her 141 steals were the third most by a player in the state across all five classes.

Highland finished the season with a 20-4 record, inducing a 16-0 mark in the SEISC North, its first undefeated conference campaign in program history. The Huskies are 37-12 in Fink’s first two seasons with the program.

Bender landed on the Class 3A third team after she helped Mid-Prairie to a 18-6 record and a 12-2 mark in the River Valley South division. The Golden Hawks finished just one game behind Tipton for the top spot and won two playoff games before an eight-point loss to then-No. 1 Mount Vernon.

Bender scored 13.3 points per game — the third best scoring average in the RVC South — and averaged 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, three steals and 1.3 blocks. He 32 blocks on the season was the second most in the conference.
