Tigers down Presentation College on the road for third win of the season

ABERDEEN, S.D. — Iowa Wesleyan football got back in the win column on Saturday against Presentation College on the road.
The Tigers won big on the day, thrashing the Saints 49-22 for their third win of the season.
Iowa Wesleyan kicked the ball off first, but the defense came up big forcing Presentation to punt seven plays in.
On their first drive of the afternoon, the Tigers would answer as they put together a 14 play drive that spanned over 80 yards and ended with Gavin Esquivel hitting Jaden Harris for a 22 yard score on 4th and six.
After a turnover on the next drive by the Saints in their own territory, Iowa Wesleyan took a 14 point advantage in three plays with Esquivel hitting Harris once against for six. After the extra point it was 14-0 Iowa Wesleyan.
Presentation got on the board, late in the first quarter on a blocked field goal that was returned 76 yards for a touchdown, but the Tigers made it 21-7 with yet another Esquivel touchdown pass, this time connecting with Asaivien McWilliams.
In the second quarter, Presentation started to crawl back into the game, 21-9, with a safety and field goal, but Iowa Wesleyan pulled away once again with an pick six by Jakim Brock.
The Saints answered back with their own pick six, when Esquivel’s pass was intercepted by Braxton Bates making it 28-19.
Iowa Wesleyan headed into the locker room with a 28-19 lead.
In the second half, it was all Iowa Wesleyan.
The Tiger defense allowed just three points in the second half, while the Tiger offense continued to thrive.
They found the end zone once in the third and twice in the fourth, outscoring the Saints 21-3 on the way to the win.
Esquivel had a heck of a game for the Tigers. He threw for 437 yards and five total touchdowns in the win.
On the ground, Askia Moses ran for 90 yards and one touchdown.
Terrell Holt led in receiving with 131 yards and one touchdown. Harris followed with 106 yards and three touchdowns.
Iowa Wesleyan, now 3-5, will be back in action against Dakota State University on Saturday in Mt. Pleasant.
