IW golf hosts Tiger Classic

FT. MADISON - Iowa Wesleyan held the IW Tiger Classic at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course earlier this week. The men's team ended the day in third place, while the women's team finished in fourth. North Iowa Area Community College won the men's side and the William Penn University JV team won the women's match.
The Tigers recorded a team score of 311, nine strokes behind the top team. Iowa Wesleyan was led by Jaime Suarez after shooting a 75 through 18 holes. He ended the day, three strokes over par and two strokes behind the leader. After tying for fourth, it went to the scorecards for the tie breaker, and Suarez was one stroke higher on the back nine score, resulting in a fifth place finish. Blake Forsythe and Fergus Smith ended the day with a 77, placing in a seven way tie for eighth.
The women's golf team recorded a team score of 405. Hannah Lien tied for 14th place, breaking 90 with a final score of 89 through 18 holes. Darby Massner recorded a final score of 99, breaking 100 for the first time this season. Maddie Calease placed 23rd after shooting a 104 at the end of the day. Claire Hanson and Allie Massner each improved from last week, with Hanson turning in a scorecard of 113 and Massner shooting a 126.
The men's team will have two events left this fall, the first will be today (Friday). They will compete in the Clarke Invite at the South Course of Eagle Ridge Resort. The women's team finished their fall season today and will compete again this spring.
