FULTON Mo. - The Iowa Wesleyan soccer teams traveled south to Westminster College on Tuesday night, and neither could bring home a victory. The Tiger men ended their game in a 1-1 draw, and the women fell 2-0.
Iowa Wesleyan had a short-lived lead in the men's game. Francisco Javier Saldana found the back of the net off an assist by Xavier Lozada in the 17th minute.
That advantage lasted for just under five minutes before the Blue Jays responded. Westminster's Jacob Skaggs tied the game just under 22 minutes into the game.
The contest went into double overtime but neither team could break through, allowing both teams to pick up a tie in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings.
Vincent Sanchis was in the net for the Tiger men. He faced nine shots on goal and saved eight.
The Tiger women were knotted at 0-0 with Westminster for 37 minutes. The Blue Jays connected on a goal in the 37th minute and one in the 42nd.
Iowa Wesleyan was unable to get a shot on goal in the women's game. In net, Kylie Mulhern-Guillier faced 19 shots on goal and saved 16 of them.
The Tiger men are now 2-0-1 in the SLIAC, and the women are 2-2-0. Both teams will be back in Mediapolis on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Webster University.
