IW men drop final game

EUREKA, Ill. - The Iowa Wesleyan men's basketball team played their final game of the 2018-19 season this afternoon against the Red Devils of Eureka College. The Tiger offense could not get going against the Red Devils which led to a 110-77 loss on the road.
Iowa Wesleyan got off to a slow start against the Red Devils, falling behind 0-6 in the first three minutes. Austin Banks stopped the run and put the Tigers on the board with a jumper at the 17:07 minute mark. Jake Neubauer followed with an old fashioned three point play to bring the score to 5-9. He followed with another jumper on IW's next possession to keep the score within four points. Eureka's offense heated up and they were able to build a double-digit lead. Alberto Torres hit a three pointer before the break to bring the score to 31-58.
The Tigers could not find an answer to slow down the Red Devils in the second half. Eureka ended the game with a 56.8 percent field goal percentage and shot 43.2 percent from behind the arc. Iowa Wesleyan shot just under 33 percent from the field and nearly 22 percent from three point range. The Tigers were able to force Eureka into 17 turnovers which included seven steals.
Torres recorded a team-high 16 points and two blocks for the Tigers, while Neubauer finished with 10 points. Alex Dentlinger dished out a team-high four assists.
Iowa Wesleyan finished the year with an overall record of 7-18 and went 5-13 in SLIAC play.
