OSKALOOSA - The Iowa Wesleyan men's soccer team had a mountain to climb on Monday in Oskaloosa. The Tigers took on a tough William Penn University squad, falling 5-1 in nonconference play.
William Penn's Bernardo Lima scored just 50 seconds into the game to put the Tigers in an early hole, but IW would tie the game up four minutes later when Carlos Lopez took an assist from Hugo Bonilla and found the back of the net. The score was 1-1 after five minutes of play.
Early in the fifth minute, the Statesmen struck right back. Moussa Ndiaye scored to give William Penn a 2-1 lead.
Lima scored in the 29th minute to stretch the William Penn lead to 3-1. William Penn put up two more goals in the second half.
The Tigers had 10 shots and five shots on goal in the night. Lopez, Carlos Mateo Moreno, Francisco Javier Saldana, Juan Carlos Franco and Bonilla each had one shot on goal.
