IW men’s golf team begins spring season

WOOD RIVER, Ill. - The Iowa Wesleyan men's golf team opened up their spring season at the Blackburn Spring Invitational. The two day event wrapped up play this afternoon at Belk Park Golf Course in Wood River, Ill. After ending day one in sixth, the Tigers improved their score but were unable to move up in the standings and finished sixth.
Iowa Wesleyan started the day with a team score of 345, three strokes behind fourth place. Knox led the field with a team score of 311 to start day two. The Tigers shaved seventeen strokes off their first round score to end the day with a 328 and a final team score of 673.
Jaime Suarez recorded the low score for Iowa Wesleyan, finishing with a 161 through 36 holes He placed 11th individually. Blake Forsythe tied for 12th individually after turning in a final score of 162 (84 day one, 78 day two). Jeff Cox was the final Tiger to place in the top twenty-five. Cox ended the two day event with a score of 169 to place 23rd individually for Iowa Wesleyan.
The Tigers will be back in action this weekend when they compete in the Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invite hosted by Knox College. The two day event will begin on Friday, March 29 and end on Saturday, March 30, at the Soangetha Golf Course in Galesburg, Ill.
