ST. LOUIS - The Iowa Wesleyan men's soccer team took a rare loss in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday. The Tigers were upended 2-1 by a Fontbonne team they had defeated by that same score just 20 days prior.
The Griffins got on the board first. Fontbonne's Jarid Morton netted the opening goal in the seventh minute.
Iowa Wesleyan's Xavier Lozada tied the game up in the 35th minute. Francisco Javier Saldana found Lozada with a pass and Lozada buried it from inside the box to knot things up at 1-1.
Fontbonne's Trent Calvert broke the tie in the 54th minute, scoring an unassisted goal. The Tigers would never tie the game back up.
Vincent Sanchis took the loss in net for the Tigers. He faced seven shots on goal and saved five.
The Tiger men are now 2-1-2, sitting fourth place in the conference. They will host Spalding Univeristy (3-0-2) on Saturday.
