IW men’s track finishes fifth at Cornell Invitational

MOUNT VERNON — The Iowa Wesleyan men’s track and field team took part in the Cornell Invitational last Friday.
The Tigers competed against Mount Mercy, Clarke, Cornell, Coe and Hawkeye CC in the six team invite.
After the festivities were completed Iowa Wesleyan finished in fifth-place with 38 total points.
Mount Mercy took the team title with 208 points.
The Tigers had just two winners in the competition.
KeRon Blackwell added yet another high jump win to his record. The junior cleared 6’6 3/4 for the title.
The second winner on the day for the Tigers was Jabez Rivers. Rivers picked up 10 points in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.75.
Rivers also placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.77.
In the 4x100, Quintynn Alexander, Colton Hutson, Cody Welch and KeJuan Redd took second with a time of 45.39.
In shot put, Sven Gredelj finished sixth overall with a throw of 40’ 5 1/2 feet. The Tigers Teddric Deckard followed in eighth after a throw of 38’ 4 3/4.
Brady Musgrove grabbed a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash. He ran 53.64.
Gannon McNamee finished eighth in the 10000-meter run. He clocked a time of 39:10.36.
Cody Welch took 10th in the 20-meter dash after running a 23.84.
Iowa Wesleyan will return to the track on Saturday, April 22 at the Debacker Invitational in Cedar Rapids.
