EUREKA, Ill. - There were 16 goals scored at Eureka College's home field on Saturday, but only one of them was sent in by the home team. Instead, it was Iowa Wesleyan that set fire to the nets, dominating the men's game, 10-0, and the women's game, 5-1.
The Tiger men scored five goals in each half. Francisco Javier Saldana led three scores to go along with one assist.
Xavier Lozada had two goals and two assists in the win. David Chaves had a goal and an assist. Julio Olmedo finished with a goal and an assist, and the trio of Ernesto Barrientos, Carlos Taylor and Ieuan Ridout scored one goal apiece.
The Tiger women led 2-1 at halftime. Eureka scored one to start the second half, but the Tigers added three more before the final buzzer.
Izela Avalos scored two goals for the Iowa Wesleyan women. Ingryd Lima and Jaqualine Campos scored one goal apiece, and Giovana Pedrassani had an assist.
The Tiger men are now 2-0 on the year. The women are 2-1. Both teams will be at Westminster College tonight.
