IW softball’s Harrison and Lantz named CAC pitcher and hitter of the week

MT. PLEASANT — For two Iowa Wesleyan softball players in junior Aspyn Harrison and sophomore Jordan Lantz its been one heck of a week as the pair were named Continental Athletic Conference Pitcher and Hitter of the Week.
Harrison was given the Pitcher of the Week honor after her performances from the Tigers’ spring break trip last week.
Harrison was lights out in the circle in game one of the week against Fairmont State University.

She threw a complete game of seven innings giving up just one run on four hits and three walks with nine strikeouts.
In her second game of the week, she threw a complete game of five innings giving up one earned run once again on three hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
In the Tigers' third victory of the week, Harrison threw a full seven innings while giving up two earned runs on six hits and one walk with eight strikeouts.
Harrison totaled 24.0 innings only giving up nine earned runs on 21 hits and five walks. She also struck out 21 batters on the week. Her record in the circle was 3-1 on the week.
As for Lantz, she was named this week's Softball Hitter of the Week for her performances over spring break as well.
Lantz started their spring break trip going 3-3 in the Tigers' first game against Fairmont State University and the Tigers' first win of the trip, 6-1 over the Falcons.
Lantz went 1-2 and scored a run in the Tigers' loss against Madonna University.
In the Tigers' third game, Lantz went 2-2 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored against Rochester University, the Tigers picked up a 13-1 win over Rochester.
Against Suffolk University, Lantz added two RBIs by going 2-3 from the plate and added a walk in the Tigers' 7-2 win over Suffolk.
Lantz batted .750 from the plate on the week with a total of eight hits. Lantz was crucial for the Tigers picking up three wins in the four day stretch.
Harrison, Lantz and the Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, March 18 in St. Louis in a doubleheader against the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets. The first game is at 1 p.m.
