IW track and field schedules announced

MT. PLEASANT — After being back in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) for a full year, and competing in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) for the second year, the Tigers have announced their 2022-2023 schedule.

Hunter Davis is leading the way for his fourth straight season with the Tigers and third season as head coach.

During the 2021-22 outdoor season, the Tigers were highlighted by national qualifier and school record holder Bri Hunter, who won the 2022 NSAA Outdoor Championship title in the women's shot put and discus. She went on to nationals to represent the Tigers and placed 24th.

The Tigers also had two national qualifiers in cross-country in Lilly Garnsey and Logan Lucas this fall.

During the indoor track and field season, the Tiger track and field team had seven postseason All-Conference recipients and six regular season All-Conference athletes, including conference champion KeRon Blackwell in the men's high jump.

The Tigers had six athletes qualify for the 2022-2023 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship Meet.

Bri Hunter qualified in the women's shot put, Allison Morris and Faith Younce qualified in the women's 3,000 meter RaceWalk, Logan Lucas and Kenny Tucker qualified in the men's 3,000 meter RaceWalk, and KeRon Blackwell qualified in the men's high jump.

Blackwell led the Tigers at the national meet with a fourth-place finish clearing six feet 9.5 inches and earning All-American honors.

The Tigers will open up their 2023 outdoor track and field season in Des Moines, Iowa at the Vikings Relays hosted by Grand View University on March 25.
