IW track and field takes 3rd, 5th at SLIAC Indoors

ELSAH, Ill. - It was a nice weekend for the Iowa Wesleyan track and field teams, who took home two Top-5 team finishes at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. The Tiger men took third place, with 60 points, and the Tiger women were fifth, with 29.
Greenville University doimited the team standings. The Greenville men won with 218 points, and the women took first with a score of 178.
The men climbed their way up the leaderboard by taking home three Top-2 finishes, two on the track and one in the field.
The men's distance medley relay team, anchored by former Mt. Pleasant prep Ryan Hutchinson, took the silver. The squad of Blake Lenzie, Antwaun Scott, Tyree Walker and Hutchinson finished the race in 14:11.13.
The Tigers placed three runners in the Top-5 in the men's 60-meter hurdles. Tyree Walker was the top Tiger, with a second-place finish of 9.39 seconds. Jaheem Hampton took fourth, in 12.10 seconds and Ben Thomas was fifth, at 12.67 seconds.
The top Iowa Wesleyan performance in the field came in the shot put. Max Paskowitz threw the shot 11.64 meters for second place. Trent Paschal also finished in the Top-5, taking fourth place with a throw of 10.99 meters.
The Tiger men had two finishers in the Top-4 of the triple jump. Walker lept 10.90 meters for third place, and Lenzie finished fourth, with a jump of 9.72 meters.
The Tiger women had pair of third-place finishes. D'Anna Houston had one of those in the triple jump, leaping 8.72 meters for the IW women's' top individual performance of the day.
The women's distance medley relay team of Veronica Morgan, Izela Avalos, De'Anna Houston and Allison Morris took third place in 15:57.16.
