IW volleyball ends year with a win

Iowa Wesleyan hosted Spalding University yesterday morning for their final match of the season. The Tigers ended their season on a high note, defeating the Golden Eagles 3-2 on senior day.
The Tigers got off to a bit of a slow start, dropping the first two sets 22-25 and 21-25. They bounced back in the third set, converting 15 kills on a .216 hitting percentage. Iowa Wesleyan picked up a 25-20 win to bring the score to 2-1 over Spalding.
In the fourth set, Iowa Wesleyan only had one more kill than the Golden Eagles, but had six fewer attack errors. They evened the match at 2-2 with a 25-16 win and forced the deciding set. It was all Iowa Wesleyan in the fifth set. They converted 11 kills compared to four by Spalding, which led to a 15-7 win for the Tigers.
Sydney Ellsworth had a team-high .400 hitting percentage in the match. She finished with 16 kills and just two attack errors. Lida Landre led the Tigers with 17 kills, while Jordan Miller added 10 kills in the win. Paige Kammerer finished the match with 31 assists and 11 digs, and Jenna Murphy had a team-high 32 digs.
Iowa Wesleyan ended the season with an overall record of 10-19 and a conference record of 7-11. The 10 wins is the most wins the program has recorded since the 2013 season.
Lida Landre is currently second in the conference with 326 kills and 2.94 digs per set this season. Paige Kammerer is fifth in assists this season with a total of 477. Jenna Murphy is currently fourth on the conference leaderboards with 540 digs and 4.86 digs per set.
