IW women drop home game

MT. PLEASANT - The first time the Iowa Wesleyan women's basketball team played Spalding this season, they lost by 42 points. The Tigers cut that number almost in half on Saturday, but sitll took an 88-66 loss.
The Tigers stuck with Spalding throughout the first half, but the Golden Eagles bulit on their lead every quarter. Spalding led 21-17 after the first quarter, 40-32 at halftime and 63-49 after three quarters.
The Bigger Golden Eagle team out-rebounded IW 40-20, a problem head coach Temaine Wright says his team needs to rectify. Wright said he did see big improvements in his squad since last time the two teams played.
'We've progressed as far as a team, and as far as being able to execute and play harder, and not get down on ourselves,” Wright said. 'They jumped on us when we played down there.”
Harriet Fowler had a big game, scoring 17 points off the bench to lead the Tigers. Maddie Williamson had 16 points and five assists, and Morgan McCrea was the third Tiger in double digits, finishing with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Allie Massner ended the day with eight points. Da'Jaah Swolley and Kieley Allen scored four points apiece, and Sydney Farrar finished the game with three.
The Tigers are now 3-16 overall and 3-9 in confference play. They will host Blackburn College, another team that sits 3-9 in conference, on Wednesday night.
