IW women fall in last two games

EUREKA, Ill. - The Iowa Wesleyan women's basketball team wrapped up their season last week with their final two SLIAC games of the year. The Tigers fell 81-55 against Fontbonne University on Wednesday, and then went down 67-63 at Eureka on Saturday.
The Tigers trailed 20-8 after one quarter and 40-25 at halftime in their loss against Fontbonne. The Griffins went up 60-40 after three quarters and won the fourth quarter 21-15.
Darby Massner shined in her final home game in a Tiger uniform. She scored 26 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Allie Massner had 12. Claire Hanson finished with five points and 10 rebounds. Jordanna Mickley and Da'Jaah Swolley scored five each, and Deericka Martin scored two. Harriet Fowler led the squad with four assists.
IW trailed 15-9 after the first quarter in Eureka, and went down 32-30 at halftime. The Tigers crawled back to take a 43-42 lead after three quarters.
Eureka took the lead on a three-pointer in the first minute of the fourth. Darby tied the game up with a layup just over a minute later, but the Red Devils took back the lead and held on throughout the fourth quarter.
IW trailed 66-63 in the final 10 seconds. Martin put up a potential game-tying three-pointer, but it didn't fall, and Eureka's Morgan Josie corralled the rebound. Josie hit one of two free throws to ice the game.
Darby finished the Eureka game with 20 points, 13 rebounds and three steals. Fowler had 12 points and four assists. Allie scored 11, and Martin had 10.
Hanson had six points on the day. Emily Hammel and Mickley finished with two points apiece.
IW finished the season 5-18 overall. They finished the SLIAC seasonwith a 3-13 record.
