We're less than a month away from the college soccer season, and fans at East Lake Park will be seeing a lot of the Iowa Wesleyan women in late August and early September.
The IW women will play four home games before they ever hit the road. The Tigers will have four games at East Lake Park over the first eight days of their season, three nonconference regular season games and one scrimmage.
The Tigers will begin the year with one of the three teams they beat in 2018. The Tigers will host Rockford College on Aug. 31 in the 'Lace it Up for Pediatric Cancer” game. The Tigers defeated Rockford 4-1 on the road last year. That game will also be the first contest under new head coach Chris Gaskin.
The Tigers will have a quick turnaround, playing a Sunday morning scrimmage game one day after their season opener. IW will take on the College of Lake County on Sept 1. That game will not show as an official game on the record.
IW will play Lincoln College and Stephens College later in the week. The Tigers will play Lincoln on Sept. 4 and Stephens on Sept. 7. They didn't play either of those two squads in 2018.
The Tigers will play three road games in mid-September before ending the season with a home-and-home against Faith Baptist Bible College. The Tigers will host Faith Baptist on Sept. 24 and play them on the road on Sept. 30.
The SLIAC season begins on Oct. 5 when the Tigers play Blackburn College. IW fell 2-1 to the Beavers in their 2018 showdown.
The 2018 Tigers had just one conference win, and that was a 7-1 blowout against Eureka. The Tigers will host Eureka for senior day on Oct. 23, their fourth-to-last game of the year.
Overall, IW will have five road games and four home games in the conference season. They'll end the 2019 schedule right where they started it, at East Lake Park, on Nov. 2, against MacMurray College.
