IW wrestling comes up short to William Penn
Tigers win four in loss to Statesman

OSKALOOSA — Iowa Wesleyan wrestling hit the road on Tuesday to take on the Statesmen of William Penn University.
After a tough back and forth battle between the two teams, the Tigers came up just short to the Statesmen, 31-22.
At 125, Lane Scorpil pinned Jeffrey Myers in 2:18 to give the Tigers an early 6-0 lead.
In the 133-pound weight class, Brendan Ferenchik defeated Brendan Nantz by major decision, 16-3. This extended the Tiger lead to 10-0.
In the 141-pound class, Noah Aken defeated the Tiger’s Carson Coleman by decision 7-6. The loss cut the Tiger lead to 10-3 over the Statesmen.
At 149, the Tiger’s Quinten Aney pinned Tavian Thomas in 3:41. The pin by Aney extended the Tiger lead to 16-3.
In the 157-pound weight class, Steven Skewes received a forfeit to give six team points to the Statesmen and cut the team score to 16-9.
Matheson Meade of William Penn pinned the Tiger’s Jesus Diaz in 1:50 to cut the Tigers lead to 1, 16-15, at 165.
In the 174-pound weight class, Elijah Ramirez received a forfeit to give 6 more team points to the Statesmen and the lead in the dual, 21-16 over the Tigers.
At 184, Mason Walters defeated Iowa Wesleyan’s Kaden Kaiser by major decision, 16-3. This extended the Statesmen lead to 25-16.
In the 197-pound class, Branson Bottorff of the Statesmen pinned Elias Cordero in 1:27 to clinch the dual and move the team score to 31-16 in favor of the Statesmen.
Isaac Boucher finished the meet with a win for Iowa Wesleyan at 285. Boucher pinned Ross Via in 2:15 to make the final score 31-22 in favor of the Statesmen.
