The Iowa Wesleyan College softball team has been given the No. 4 seed for the USCAA Softball Small College World Series.
The Tigers (18-13) will take on sixth-seeded St. Mary of the Woods College on Monday, May 13. The game is set for 4 p.m. in Akron, Ohio.
The Tigers are one of 10 teams invited to the tournament. This is the first year the Tigers will compete in the USCAA National Tournament. They face a St. Mary of the Woods team that is no stranger to the tournament, having won seven championships from 2000-2008. They fell to Spalding University last year in the championship game.
Briarcliffe College (NY) is seeded No. 1 in the tournament. Iowa Wesleyan is one of the rare teams in the tournament to have defeated Briarcliffe earlier this season. The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 8-2 in mid-March.
Fans can follow the action through the USCAA?s tournament website.
