IWC volleyball to face tough conference competition

Preseason rankings for the volleyball teams of the Midwest Collegiate Conference were released this week, and Iowa Wesleyan finished eighth out of 10 teams in the conference.

League coaches picked Viterbo and Grand View as co-favorites, followed by St. Ambrose.

Viterbo finished 38-5 overall last year and went undefeated in the MCC, finishing one game ahead of Grand View for the regular season title.

St. Ambrose came from the number 3 seed to win the MCC Tournament and earn a berth at the NAIA Championships.

Falling in behind the top three in the rankings are Ashford, Clarke, William Penn, Mt. Mercy and then Iowa Wesleyan.

Waldorf, along with a newcomer to the conference, AIB of Des Moines, finished in a tie for ninth in the preseason poll.
