Je-Wa-Ke all-stars best in state
OSKALOOSA ? The Je-Wa-Ke 12-and-under all-star softball team took top honors at the State Little League Championship, dropping Burlington by the final score of 8-3 in the championship game Monday in Oskaloosa.
The state champions advance to the Central Region Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind., where they open play at noon Saturday vs. Wisconsin.

OSKALOOSA ? The Je-Wa-Ke 12-and-under all-star softball team took top honors at the State Little League Championship, dropping Burlington by the final score of 8-3 in the championship game Monday in Oskaloosa.
The state champions advance to the Central Region Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind., where they open play at noon Saturday vs. Wisconsin.
Je-Wa-Ke had a 5-1 record in the tournament and won its first four matchups to guarantee a spot in the championship game. The all-stars routed Boone 13-3 on day one, defeated Central Iowa 6-4 on the second day, won a 9-3 game over Grandview on day three and crushed Montezuma by a final score of 19-4 on day four.
Burlington and Je-Wa-Ke, both still holding identical 4-0 records, took to the field on day five with a preview of the championship game. Burlington handed Je-Wa-Ke its first loss with a 7-2 victory, but Je-Wa-Ke dusted itself off the following day to win the championship.
Members of the state-champion team are Leah Dix, Haley Gambell, Maci Gambell, Whitney Johnson, Chelsea Lanphier, Kaylee Linder, Hunter Lock, Hollie Loper, Olivia Munkirs, Kelly Myers, Brooke Waechter, Jamier White, Ashlyn Zook and Haelee Zook. The team is coached by Rusty Zook, Brad Gambell and Deb Linder.
