Fairfield will have representation on the sidelines of the 2026 Iowa Shrine Bowl. Trojans head coach Matt Jones will serve as an assistant coach for the South team in the all-star event.
The Shine Bowl will kick off July 25, 2026, at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. The game brings together some of the top senior high school talent from across the state, and raises money for Shriners Children’s Hospitals.
Selected players and cheerleaders will attend a week-long camp featuring practices and events in the buildup to the game. The 2025 edition had 92 players participate.
Jones began his second stint as the Fairfield head coach in 2024, having previously held the role from 2017-18. The Trojans finished with a 3-6 record last season.
Glenwood’s Cory Faust will serve as the head coach of the South team. Jones will be joined on the assistant staff by Peter Kilburg (Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln), Conner Hanafan (Clarinda), Michael Joyner (Marion), Cody Matthewson (ACGC) and Dustin Elsbury (Regina Catholic).
Bishop Garrigan head coach Marty Wadle will lead the North team. His staff includes Andy Brim (Webster City), Jeff Bauer (Ankeny), Kadrian Hardersen (Hinton), Michael Tangen (Decorah), Ryan Schwiesow (West Sioux) and Ryan Rezac (Esterville Lincoln Central).
The 2026 Iowa Shrine Bowl rosters have yet to be announced. Last season, WACO’s Louden Huisenga and Sigourney-Keota’s Isaac Bruns played for the South team.
