JV girls win, boys lose in non-conference games

Both Mt. Pleasant junior varsity teams were in action on Monday night. The JV girls defeated Ottumwa 31-23 and the boys fell at Xavier 55-46.

The girls' team was led by Cristina Carthey, who scored eight points in the win. Emma Rugg finished the night with six points, 11 rebounds and three blocks, and Karsyn Lamm added five points. Avery Sutter filled the stat sheet with 12 rebounds, five blocks and four steals.

The boys' team held a 14-3 lead after the first quarter but Xavier came roaring back with a 30-10 second quarter that turned the whole game around.

Clayton Lowery led the boys with 11 points, six rebounds and a steal. Jack Johnson had nine points, six rebounds and a steal. Donovan Arledge had six points and three rebounds. Chase Williamson had five points, four rebounds and three steals, and Brevin Wilson finished with five points, five rebounds and two steals.
