JV Panthers trump Trojans

The Mt. Pleasant junior varsity football team flattened Fairfield in their home game on Monday night. The Panthers ran away with a 56-0 win over their conference rivals to move to 4-2.
The lone first quarter score was a 34-yard touchdown pass from Brody Bender to Chase Williamson. After one period of play, the score was 7-0 in favor of Mt. Pleasant.
The Pantehrs outscored the Trojans 35-0 in the second quarter. Mt. Pleasant had two defensive touchdowns in the period. Jack Johnson had a fumble recovery touchdown and Avery Scandridge ended the half with a pick-six. At halftime, the Panthers led 42-0.
Mt. Pleasant cruised in the second half. The Panthers tacked on two more touchdowns before the final buzzer rang.
The Pantehrs had 186 rushing yards on the day, lead by Orin Cantu who rushed for 92 yards. Bender had four carries for 53 yards and a score, and Jamie Johannes had one touchdown on the ground.
Bender was 6-10 passing the ball for 159 yards and four touchdowns. Williamson went for three catches, 76 yards and three scores. Brevin Wilson had two catches for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Scanderidge had six tackles to go along with his pick-six. Hoang Mai had four tackles and a fumble recovery. Mitchell Trexel had three tackles and a forced fumble, and Jack Johnson had two tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
