Keokuk’s 5-run 7th sends Mid-Prairie softball to defeat

KEOKUK — A 10-3 Mid-Prairie lead in the fifth inning became a 10-10 softball game after the hometown Chiefs scored two in the bottom of the sixth and five in the seventh inning Tuesday.
Keokuk opened its season with an 11-10 victory over Mid-Prairie with Taeja Anderson’s two-out game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Ada Wood pitched four innings and hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the seventh.
Myah Lugar was in the circle for all 8 2/3 innings and only walked one. She struck out four. Mid-Prairie teammates Dakota Mitchell and Hannah Sellers each had three hits. Mitchell had a double and a triple with three runs batted in.
Lugar hit a double as did teammates Katelyn Schneider, Dawsyn Miller and Landry Pacha.
