KEOTA — Keota volleyball, unlike a lot of teams around the area, loses just two player from its 2021 roster.
The Eagles will have a lot of the same names on the volleyball court, but the two players they lose, graduates Taylor Kindred and Makenzie Jackson will be missed.
Kindred has been a great athlete all around for Keota. On the volleyball court, she was the Eagles kills leader last season. She finished with 118 total kills in 2021.
She was also a great defensive presence at the net, tallying a team best 46 blocks.
As for Jackson, she was also a great blocker for the Eagles. Her 38 blocks were second best on the 2021 squad.
On the offensive end, Jackson’s 51 kills were the third most and her 25 assists were second.
A lot of Jackson’s damage came from serving as well. She led the Eagles last fall with 49 aces.
On the bright side for Keota, they return a lot of young players that already have a taste of the varsity level.
Senior Macie McDonald returns. She led the Eagles in assists last season. She will be the leading setter once again.
Junior Madison Scott had the second most kills last season, with 56.
Senior Nicole Clarahan ended with 38 kills, while sophomore Kimberly Clarahan had 19. Both will see an increase this season.
Junior Cassandra Swantz will be back in 2022. She led the Eagles on the defensive side with 279 digs.
With the amount of talent the Eagles have returning, it’s set to be a successful volleyball season.
