Keota captures own golf tourney with 4-of-5 top scores
WMU boys defeat Hillcrest, Mid-Prairie girls 3rd both at Kalona

KEOTA — The Eagles won their own boys golf tournament Saturday at Lagos Acres Golf Course with six of the top eight scores.
Ethan Kupka of HLV won medalist honors with a 39. The next four scores were Keota’s with Sawyer Stout at 41, Colten Clarahan and Cole Kindred at 42 each and Drew Sieren’s 45. Luke Hammen’s 47 tied Beau Long of Iowa Valley and Max Johnson had a 48.

WMU climbs past Hillcrest
KALONA — Winfield-Mount Union scored a team total of 173 to Hillcrest’s 188. Monday’s meet was won by the Wolves behind Brady Loyd’s 40 and Jacob Kongable’s 43. Bryce Wade followed with a 44 and Seth Schurr had a 46.
London Schrock and Jace Rempel led the Ravens with a 44 apiece. Luke Schrock had a 45 and Alex Niemeyer 55.
Mid-Prairie girls 3rd
KALONA — The Golden Hawk girls scored a 215 with West Branch at 200 and West Liberty 211.
Madelyn Bender posted a 50 to lead the Hawks. Alexa Huber had a 52, Madi Davidson 54 and Gabi Robertson 59.
Madelyn Bender watches her iron shot in a meet at Cedar Crest. Bender went low for Mid-Prairie Monday at Kalona as Mid-Prairie finished third behind West Liberty and West Branch. (File)
