NORTH ENGLISH — The Keota softball team had a promising start in a South Iowa Cedar League game at English Valleys, but the Eagles couldn’t hang on, falling 13-3.
All three Keota runs came in the first inning. English Valleys scored two in the first and two in the second to take a 4-3 lead, and then broke the game open with a six-run fourth.
It was Keota’s 13th loss of the year. The Eagles have had a couple close calls, including a 3-2 loss at Colfax Mingo on June 14, but they have yet to pick up a victory.
The Eagles have four more chances to get a win in the regular season. They host No. 10 (1A) Sigourney on Friday.
