Keota’s Kindred named All-Union captain

The 2024-25 Iowa high school boys basketball season has come and gone. For the Union Area, it means it’s time for yet another All-Union small school boys basketball list.
One things is common on this year’s small school list and it’s that the upperclassmen showed out.
All six of the player spots are held by juniors and seniors. Four seniors and two juniors led the area list.
This year’s captain is Keota’s Billie Kindred, while the coach honor goes to Dwight Gingerich of Hillcrest Academy.
The Ravens have two selections, the coach spot and a player slot. WACO, Mid-Prairie, Winfield-Mt. Union and Van Buren County are also represented as well.

Coach: Dwight Gingerich, Hillcrest Academy
Hillcrest Academy coach Dwight Gingerich just knows how to win.
The Ravens head man is one of the most winningest coaches in Iowa State history.
Gingerich helped the Ravens pile up a 21-4 record, Hillcrest Academy’s most wins since the 2017-18 season. The Ravens finished 21-4 that season as well.
The Ravens were just two games away from the state tournament this season.
Captain: Billie Kindred, senior, Keota
The 2024-25 All-Union captain slot goes to Keota senior Billie Kindred.
Kindred helped the Eagles to a 19-4 season and a second-round playoff berth.
He was one of the best scoring threats and one of the top glass cleaners in Southeast Iowa.
The second team all-stater lead the South Iowa Cedar East league with a best 24.6 points per game. Kindred averaged a double double, pulling down 14.2 rebounds a night as well. He also averaged two assists, 2.1 steals and 1.3 blocks.
Kindred shot 53.2% from the field and 39.4% from three.
Bryce Henry, junior, Mid-Prairie
One of two juniors on the 2024-25 list is Mid-Prairie’s Bryce Henry.
The third year player propelled the Golden Hawks to a 18-5 record. Mid-Prairie was just two wins away from the state tournament.
A third-team all-state selection, Henry did a little bit of everything. He finished with a team best and conference second best 21.3 points per game.
Henry also pulled down a team high 5.3 rebounds, while also tallying 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals. He shot 46.3% from the field, 36.7% from three and 86.1% from the foul line.
Christian Stacy, junior, WACO
The second junior on the All-Union list is Christian Stacy. The first year WACO Warrior saw success right out of the gate in the powdered blue.
As Southeast Iowa Super Conference first-team selection, Stacy averaged 19.3 points a night. Stacy finished with team highs in rebounds and steals as well, averaging 6.7 and 2.6 respectively.
Jake Edwards, senior, Winfield-Mt. Union
Winfield-Mt. Union senior Jake Edwards filled up the stat sheet in final campaign.
The Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Player of the Year was notably the top swiper in the state. Edwards’ 113 steals on the season ranks first in the entire state regardless of class. He averaged 4.9 steals a game.
Along with averaging 18.3 points a night, Edwards also posted team highs in assists, carding 5.3 assists. He also pulled down 4.7 rebounds.
Izaak Loeffler, senior, Van Buren County
Van Buren County’s Izaak Loeffler took strides in the 2024-25 season.
Loeffler averaged nearly 20 points, finishing with a cool 19.9 points a game to lead the Warriors in the tough Southeast Iowa Super Conference South division. He also averaged 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists as well.
He paced VBC to six wins and was a Southeast Iowa Super Conference South second-team selection.
Seth Ours, senior, Hillcrest Academy
Hillcrest Academy senior Seth Ours was big for a balanced Ravens squad this season.
Ours, who was a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North first-team selection, scored 14.2 points per game for the Ravens, helping them notch 21 wins.
He knocked down 49.1% of his field goals and fired at 37.1% from deep. He also shot an outstanding 83.9% from the foul line.
