Kindred’s double-double not enough

COLFAX - Taylor Kindred couldn't be stopped by her opponents Tuesday but the referees sent her to the bench with five fouls and the Keota Eagles fell seven points short of a win.
Kindred posted a double-double for the Eagles but Keota lost on the road, falling to South Iowa Cedar League foe Colfax-Mingo 49-42.
Kindred put up 15 points and took down 13 rebounds while blocking two shots and getting two steals. She was successful on 6-of-8 field goal shooting and went 3-for-6 at the free-throw line.
Sky Weber made both of her shots and went 4-for-6 on her free throws for the Eagles to finish with eight points. She added six rebounds, three assists and a steal. Taylor Garman went 2-for-3 from the field with one of those a 3-pointer. She was 1-of-2 at the foul line and had six points to go with her two rebounds and two steals. Bailey Sieren totaled five points, four steals, three assists, and a rebound. Macie McDonald had three assists, a rebound and a point.
Nicole Clarahan came off the Eagles bench to grab two rebounds, make two steals, hand out an assists and score two points. Freshman Madison Scott made a 2-pointer and a 3-pointer to finish with five points for Keota.
The Eagles trailed 12-9 after the first quarter and 24-19 at halftime, but closed with a big third quarter. Keota outscored the home team 13-8 to start the fourth quarter tied at 32-32.
The Eagles are 1-5 and host BGM, which is 0-10, Tuesday, Jan. 5.
