Knutson, Sobaski advance

BURLINGTON - Apparently golfers are tougher than most.
While postseason track meets across the state were postponed until today, the high school boys golf postseason began Thursday.
For Washington, the team finished fourth at the Class 3A Sectional hosted by Notre Dame. The top three teams advanced to Thursday's district meet at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa. Those three were Mt. Pleasant, Notre Dame/West Burlington and Centerville.
While the Demons did not advance as a team, the top two overall individual players (plus ties) at each site from among the non-qualifying teams will advance from each sectional to a district tournament.
Those two individuals were Washington's Brady Knutson and Brock Sobaski.
The low score of the meet was achieved by Mt. Pleasant's Trace White and ND/WB's Matt Briggs. Each shot 74.
Sobaski fired a 77 while Knutson posted an 80. Sobaski's score was third overall. Knutson tied for eighth.
Sobaski shot 39 on the back nine and 38 on the front nine that included going par, par, birdie, par, par on the course's first five holes before making bogey. He finished the day with 10 pars, four bogeys, two double bogeys and two birdies.
Knutson shot 39-41 for his total. He had 10 pars, four bogeys, three doubles and a birdie.
Other scores for Washington were John Prohaska's 51-46 for a 97, Grant Sobaski's 48-51 for a 99 and Caleb Tanner's 58-48 for a 106.
Prohaska tied for 20th. Sobaski tied for 26th. Tanner was 32nd.
