FAIRFIELD — Fairfield senior Nate Konczal made his college decision known earlier this month, signing his letter of intent to attend and play baseball at Mount Mercy University.
Konczal will join teammate Aidan Kreuter, who signed with the Mustangs earlier this year.
Konczal said he was excited to stay close to home, and also play with a team that has made a habit of signing local athletes.
“They recruit a lot of Iowa kids,” Konczal said. “But they also get a lot of kids from other states.”
Konczal gave credit to coach Josh Allison and the Fairfield baseball program for helping him jump to the next level.
Konczal played in 24 games for the Trojans. He pitched in six of them and finished with a 6.33 ERA and 16 strikeouts.
Mount Mercy is coming off a 34-22 season this spring. While playing for the Mustangs, Konczal is planning on studying business.
