Kool, Herman finish in top 10 at state co-ed tournament
ADEL ? State tournament-tested Sami Herman and Cody Kool played a different kind of state meet at the Class 2A state co-ed golf tournament Tuesday at River Valley Golf Course in Adel.
The pair fired a round of 81 in the alternate shot tournament to finish in a tie for eighth place among 83 entrants.

ADEL ? State tournament-tested Sami Herman and Cody Kool played a different kind of state meet at the Class 2A state co-ed golf tournament Tuesday at River Valley Golf Course in Adel.
The pair fired a round of 81 in the alternate shot tournament to finish in a tie for eighth place among 83 entrants.
Herman, a senior, and Kool, a junior, tied with teams from Dubuque Hempstead and Ankeny on the par-72 course. Urbandale?s Kenzie Rottinghaus and Tyler Christians won the tournament by four strokes with an even-par 72.
Fairfield golf awards handed out
Cody Kool was honored with the PGA Award and the Most Improved Award at the Fairfield golf team?s awards night Monday.
Kool shaved 2.2 strokes off his average from his junior to senior seasons.
Jordan Leazer was given the Captain?s Award and Matt Carr was named rookie of the year.
After staying in the top ten of the rankings all year, the Trojans? big season ended with a trip to the Class 3A state meet last month.
