FAIRFIELD — Fairfield senior Archer Kreuter made his future plans clear on Wednesday, when he signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon.
Kreuter, who hit .284 with 21 RBIs last summer, signed his letter alongside his coaches and family. He says staying close to the people in Fairfield was a big part of his decision.
“As close as I could be to home, the better,” Kreuter said. “With Cornell, everything about it just clicked for me.”
Kreuter described visiting his future school, saying things just felt right.
“As soon as I went up there, the coach greeted me with a handshake, and I was just like, ‘Yeah, he’s the guy.’ It was just one of those things.”
Kreuter will be joining a team that went 14-25 overall with a 6-15 Midwest Conference record last spring. The Rams will have one more spring of baseball before Kreuter gets to college, and the Trojan baseball team will be back at it again this summer.
“I’m looking forward to playing my best game,” Kreuter said. “I’m not really looking to put pressure on myself. I’m just looking to be a team player, and make sure we can do our best as a team.”
Kreuter plans on going into business or accounting when he gets to Cornell.
