WINFIELD - The Winfield-Mt. Union girls simply dominated in their SEISC North Division game against Columbus Community on Friday night. The Wolves buried the Wildcats early en route to a 53-24 win.
W-MU led 14-8 after the first quarter and pulled away to a 29-13 advantage at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, it was 48-21, and the two teams combined for just eight points in the lowest scoring quarter of the night.
Jenna Buffington had a huge night, scoring 21 points and pulling down 21 rebounds, 11 of which came on the offensive end of the court. Jami Wilkerson added 11 points, including three makes from down town.
Carlee Sloan scored six points in the win. Jobey Malone had four. Ali Cockerham scored three. Kyndal Townsley had two points and four assists, and Emma Haines ended the night with three points of her own.
That was the second win in a row for W-MU. They'll look to make it three-straight tonight (Tuesday) at Highland. The Wolves are currently 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the North Division.
