CEDAR FALLS – A couple of Henry County football stars will represent the South Division in the 47th annual Iowa Shrine Bowl on Saturday, July 20. Mt. Pleasant's Chase Lamm and WACO's Colton Horak will be teaming up in the game, which has raised approximately 2.7 million dollars for the Shriners Hospital since its inception.
Lamm had a big year for Mt. Pleasant last season, catching a team-high 45 passes for 635 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Lamm had 20.4 tackles and two interceptions, including one pick-six.
Horak finished off his stellar high school season with over 1,814 all-purpose yards and 27 touchdowns this season. He also threw for 76 yards and a score. Horak also finished the year with seven interceptions from the defensive side of the ball, one of which went for a touchdown.
Mt. Pleasant Head Coach Shawn Striegel will be an assistant coach for the squad. He is one of just six coaches on the South Side. Striegel led the Panthers to a 5-4 season and a 5-2 district record this year. Mt. Pleasant was outscored by just 11 points total in their two district losses.
The two Henry County athletes will be joined by a few other southeast Iowa players. Highland's Trey Lasek is on the squad, as is Fairfield's Tristin Waugh and Iowa City West's Landon Green, among others.
The game begins on Saturday at 4 p.m.
